To Whom It May Concern,
As a formal thanks to you and ActiveCare, I would like to tell you how pleased with many aspects of the little black device and service as I have experienced them to date. First, I want to thank you for the help that I have received and continue to receive in just getting started with ActiveCare....
PAL
Your PAL can be a lifesaver in an emergency, but it offers so much more. The PAL can be used like a cell phone for calls and emergency services. All calls can be made by pressing just one button that connects you directly to a Care Specialist or a preset number of your choice.
The battery typically lasts 24 hours, depending on usage.
Plug the adapter into the device and plug the other end into an outlet. The PAL does not need to be turned off to charge. We recommend you charge it in the bedroom near your nightstand so it's the last thing you put down before you go to sleep and the first thing you pick up.
It takes approximately 2 hours to fully charge the device.
Care Specialists program every PAL remotely. Four speed dial buttons can be programmed to call family and friends or any contact of your choice. You can always add to your phone book or change your speed dials by calling a Care Specialist. 16 additional numbers are available within a phonebook , which are remotely programmed.
Call Center Services
CareSpecialists are trained and prepared to offer assistance in emergency situations. CareSpecialists also help with daily activity needs like calendar reminders and assistance with directions.
All necessary member information is collected upon enrollment. Updates to this information are made through a CareSpecialist.
CareSpecialists can arrange for grocery and meal delivery right to your door. ActiveCare contracts with grocery delivery services in your area.
ActiveCare can schedule transportation services for your doctors’ appointments, social activities, and more. Roadside Assistance and directions are also available for those who prefer to drive themselves. The cost of transportation can be paid directly by the member or billed to a credit card.
GPS Location
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. Satellites retrieve data for location in both latitude and longitude (within 3 meters or 15 feet) of the device.
If you're lost and need directions, we can locate you and give you directions home or have someone come pick you up.
If there is an emergency and you are in need of help, ActiveCare can send emergency services directly to your location using the GPS coordinates of your PAL. That’s why it’s important to always wear your PAL.
An added feature and service designed specifically for the memory impaired, Geo fencing is a geographic boundary with parameters predefined to alert the Care Center and care providers when the member has wondered outside the set boundary.
Fall Detection
The PAL detects a fall through the built-in accelerometer, which automatically notifies the CareCenter.
The PAL will announce that a fall has been detected. A CareSpecialist will be notified and then ask if you are in need of assistance. The CareSpecialist’s voice can be heard through the speaker on the PAL.
A CareSpecialist will inquire if it is an emergency and will send help if needed. If there is no response, a CareSpecialist will follow the safety protocol, which includes calling your home, calling the emergency contact, and calling emergency services (when needed).
Yes, it's important to always wear your PAL on your person for the fall detection function to be active. Also, remember to charge your PAL at night so it's ready for use.
Roadside Assistance
Roadside Assistance includes situations where you need assistance, such as locking the keys in the car, running out of gas, a flat tire, a broken down car, overheating of the car, a car that won't start because of a dead battery, a car accident, etc.
Yes, ActiveCare can store account number and phone number so you can press one button and the CareSpecialist will call the provider, explain the situation, and send help.
CareSpecialists will contact a Roadside Assistance provider and send help. Costs will be the responsibility of the member.
Emergency Services
ActiveCare will dispatch help, using GPS to identify your location.
Every ActiveCare CenterSpecialist receives the same training as emergency medical dispatchers (911 operator) from the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch. In addition, CareSpecialists are trained in Time Life priority situations and can provide instructions while emergency services are dispatched.
Yes, your CareSpecialist will stay on the phone with you until emergency personnel arrive. CareSpecialists are the first responder to an emergency situation and will also provide the EMTs or hospital personnel with your medical history, medications, etc.
